To be eligible for this random allocation, new students must have paid at least half of the annual fees and successfully registered for their courses. They can then participate in the selection process via a link on the STS portal.

The university has issued a statement emphasizing the importance of completing the registration process to qualify for this exercise. It was also highlighted that only those students who participate in the exercise and are fortunate enough to be chosen will be assigned to the traditional halls.

In the meantime, new students who either don’t wish to participate in the exercise or haven’t been able to secure accommodation are advised to consider private hostels and other off-campus housing options nearby.

The random allocation of beds was first implemented in the 2023/24 academic year, earlier in the semester, with the aim of giving all students an equal opportunity to secure on-campus accommodation.

The process, set to commence at 12:00pm, will be live-streamed on the university’s YouTube channel, UniversityGhana (@universityofghana). This is to ensure greater external oversight and enhance the transparency of the procedure.
